The place Breuil-Cervinia belongs to the Italian municipality of Valtournenche in the Aostatal. Besides, Breuil is the French and Cervinia the Italian name of the place. Both names mean compound country of many waters.

The origins of Breul-Cervinia lies more than 200 years ago, when at the feet of the Matterhorn still ruled untouched nature. How the meaning of the name already betrays, numerous lakes and brooks stamp the area. A huge meadow green in summer and majestic mountains became in the course of the years a popular destination for mountaineers and hikers. But you can also experience a lot of other activities, for example paragliding, mountainbiking or also climbing. Above all, skiers love the area. The skiing area Breuil-Cervinia-Valtournenche is ideal for everybody who will not renounce of his or her favourite sport. It is one of the top summers skiing areas in the Alps and promises a lot of runway fun during the midsummer months. Here in winter are 140 kilometres fantastic runways, which provide for an unforgettable activity holiday in the snow. Particularly the plateau Rose, at 3,480-metre height offers pure ski fun in winter and in summer. Beginners as well as professionals find here miraculous departures, which they can enjoy, in the warming sun. Forget words like ski season and simply go skiing when you want - all year round! And many small huts invite to tasty regional specialities. A special attraction is the biggest and highest situated glacier grotto, which one should absolutely visit. Not far from the top terminal is a quite special museum: It is not only the highest museum of Europe, but also the place where you will get to know the work and also the secrets of the mountains. Also the Blue Lake in which the imposing summit is reflected, is a visit worth. Apart from the Lago Blu you should absolutely visit the Lake Goillet, an impressive artificial tank on a height of 2,550 m. For golfer the valley around Cervinia offers the Golf Club Matterhorn, with 18 holes. The club was founded in 1955 and is one of the highest situated (2,050 m) golf courses of the world. During the winter months, the golf course surface becomes the runway for cross-country skiing.
