At the same time it is an important point of connection between Fassa and Fiemme valley and during the holiday time it turns into a lively vacation resort with many attractions. Since the beginning of the 20th century Moena has developed as popular, modern tourist center. Nevertheless it always remained true to its old customs and traditions and today it satisfies active holiday makers as well as epicures and nature lovers searching for relaxation. All aces, which cannot get enough of mountains, panoramas and difference in altitude, will find almost countless pleasant and extreme tours in the surrounding Dolomites. During the summer month the renowned mountain such as Rosengarten, Langkofel or Monzoni offer plenty of possibilities for hikers, mountaineers and climbers and mountain bikers will surely get their money’s worth, too. In winter Moena is an ideal base for skiers and snowboarders: Across the ski runs of “Alpe di Lusia” they can easily enter the large skiing area “Tre Valli”, which extends over three valleys and provides endless slopes and modern lift facilities. For friends of Nordic ski there is the cross-country ski center Alochet on the nearby mountain pass San Pellegrino. Last but not least Moena offers also some interesting sights, suitable as alternative for culture lovers and bad weather days. For instance, there is the lovely church of San Vigilio, decorated with works by the local artist Valentino Rovisi, or the chapel San Volfango with elaborate frescos from the 15th century and a baroque wooden ceiling. Among the highlights of the town can be mentioned some annual events such as the festival “La Turchia”, the cross-country ski race “Marcialonga” or autumnal specialty weeks.
