The Alpine village of Casteldarne is located in the beautiful Pustertal Valley, in the province of Bolzano in South Tyrol. The holiday region of Pustertal Valley is a real treasure of natural and man-made monuments. The symbol of the village of Casteldarne is the majestic Baroque castle, former residence of the Counts of Künigl, which dates back to the 1600s/1700s. It is divided into two sections, one part of which has remained almost unchanged, while the east wing has been transformed in Baroque style. On the Castle Hill there is the parish church of Casteldarne, known for its image of the Madonna of the Grain.
The Casteldarne milestone, which was discovered in 1928 in the west side of the village, is an object of great interest, and to see it up close, we recommend you to take the beautiful walk that leads up to it. There are plenty of hiking possibilities here: the Roman Trail, the Masi Trail, Kienberg or a hike to Montal. During the winter period, on the other hand, you can easily reach the Plan de Corones ski slopes from here. This means that whatever time of year you decide to come, you will always find some activity to do outdoors, to experience nature in all its aspects.
