The Nonstal Valley is an ideal place for all those who love nature and hiking tours: It is a perfect starting point for many hikes – for example through the nature park Adamello-Brenta.

This protected area is a homeland for the rare brown bears and together with the mountains of the Brenta Group, where you can find also the marvelous lake Tovel, it makes part of the UNESCO world natural heritage. But not only have the brown bears felt good in this region; there are as well many possibilities for hikers and bikers: The tours through the mountain scenery of the Brenta Group are imbedded into a wonderful landscape and surrounded by many mighty peaks. The Nonstal Valley has a long history as borderland between the German-speaking population and the Italian national territory and is full of old Christian faith and many traditions, which left their indelible marks in the country. The shrine of St. Romedius, one of the most prominent sanctuaries throughout Europe, is located on a rocky ledge with a view to a narrow, cold valley of the same name. It is one of the most popular symbols of the Nonstal Valley. You should also visit the castle Thun, a very beautiful manor house.

Val di Non is ideal for:

  • Trekking and hiking
  • Mountain bikers: e.g. on the Dolomiti di Brenta Trek
  • Sightseeing of cultural treasures, such as the castle of Thun
